270beat reaches EKH By the easiest trip we never did (our van "Romeo" was flying on "autobahn" at 130Km/h without any probems): we arrived in the austrian capital, and we finally met the EKH squatters... that actually are more than 55 people and 23 dogs!! This building is huge and it has an interesting story. When it was squatted, it was property of the austrian communist party, which judged politically correct not to ask for an eviction. To go out from this dilemma (social credibility or economic interest?) dirigents of the party sold the building to a rich entrepriser with neo-nazy simpathy, wich during one year tryed in vain to evict EKH. He is now about to withdraw and sell the building once again.

Many squatters, here, are very good in welding, and realized impressing barricades and nice iron works. They have a nice D.I.Y distribution, practice rooms, a bar, a little concert hall and a bigger one that used to be a cinema/theater hall, but the most interesting thing, for us, is their way to organize the day by day life in such a big community of people and animals living together!
