Arrival in Chemnitz

After a 9-hour trip (geography says that the shortest way between Wien and Chemitz is crossing Czech Republic, but we don't have enough passports to do that) we reach Bastille (also called the B-hof), the autonomous (life)project just outside Chemnitz...  This 18th century farm is composed by 3 big stone houses, where about 15 people live (some of them in wagen). In May they will celebrate ten years from the beginning of the project. Originally squatted, this place got legalized afther one and half year. Many big works have been made to restore the houses and to create the social center, which is now is very nice and cozy. The lifestyle here is very close to nature, and wood fire provides hot water as well as energy  to cook and warmen.  Most of the people here were born under the communism of DDR, and they are  used to cook on wood fire since  they were children!  What  a  nice  lesson  for  us, hi-tech squatters from Mars!
